Jathusan “Jat” Ratnakumaran joins Precision Paralegal
Jathusan “Jat” Ratnakumaran is a licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Ontario since 2012. He is an experienced Litigation Paralegal focusing primarily on Landlord and Tenant and Small Claims matters. He has successfully operated his practice, Quantum Legal Services, for over 6 years. Jat has extensive experience in contracts, real estate, BRA (Buyers Representation Agreement), construction disputes. During his practice, he has assisted his clients in recovering and minimizing their damages. Over the years, Jat has represented many independent landlords successfully in the Landlord and Tenant Board. He has devoted his legal career to bringing legal services to the people by finding reasonable solutions in a timely fashion.
Outside the office, Jat loves spending time with his family, hiking, devoted observer of the NBA and NFL.

Fallon Burns re-joins Precision Paralegal
We are excited to announce that Fallon Burns has joined Precision Paralegal as a Legal Researcher.
Fallon Burns graduated from Humber College with a Bachelor of Paralegal Studies in the top 10% of her class. Fallon excelled in competitive mock hearing competitions, called moots. While a student, Fallon became involved in professional paralegal initiatives founding the Paralegal Cup Moot and the more recent summer Lions’ Cup Moot. She served as the Student Director of the Ontario Paralegal Association from 2013 until 2015. She pursued her Bachelor of Canadian Studies and her Master of Arts in Critical Disability Studies at York University, completing her studies in 2019.
Fallon was appointed to the Law Society of Ontario’s Equity Advisory Group in 2015 and served as their Independent Paralegal until 2018. In 2015, Fallon was appointed to the Ministry of Attorney General’s Criminal Justice (Mental Health) Roundtable examine the over-representation of mental illness within Ontario’s Criminal Justice system.
A voracious legal researcher, Fallon adores legal questions of jurisdiction, contracts and administrative law. Fallon is delighted to return to Precision Paralegal Services where she completed her paralegal placement in 2014.

Heather Barnes joins Precision Paralegal
We are pleased to announce that Heather Barnes has joined the Precision Paralegal team.
Heather completed a Double Major at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University in History and Medieval Studies. After graduation, she chose to travel the world before heading home to complete her paralegal studies in 2015. Upon graduation from Fanshawe College with her Paralegal Studies Diploma, Heather was successful in writing the licensing examination with the Law Society of Ontario and received her official license in 2017. After venturing out on her own and running a successful Paralegal Firm with another associate, Heather opted to gain more experience in the legal field and joined a law firm assisting with their Real Estate transactions and handling Small Claims Court, Landlord & Tenant, and Human Rights matters. Being the determined individual that she is, she felt it was time to move on and focus more on building her career and position within the paralegal community. This ambition brought her to Precision Paralegal Services in 2020, where she is a valued member of the team focusing on both Landlord Tenant and Small Claims Court matters.

Frank Alfano Joins Precision Paralegal
Frank began his legal career over 20 years ago when he acted as a clerk in a law office in 1989 and took his first case in 1990. Frank was trained and mentored by some of the most distinguished paralegals. In 1996, he formed his paralegal practice developing a reputation for winning and handling complex cases for his clients which included prosecutors, justices, judges, and police officers.
In February 2010, Frank represented the defendant in the first disciplinary case in Law Society History, where paralegals represented both sides. He proceeded to win the case and establish himself as a leader in these types of hearings. Since then he has argued on some of the most important disciplinary cases in recent history.
Frank’s primary area of practice focuses on Provincial Offences Act, Highway Traffic Act, as well as discipline and parole hearings.
Frank is currently studying for his LLB degree at the University of London and anticipates graduating this year. He assists in educating the profession through many Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs a year and founded OPOAG (Ontario Provincial Offences Advocacy Group). OPOAG pairs mentors and mentees and does mock trial workshop programs in an effort to improve the services offered by paralegals.
Frank is also the former VP of the Ontario Paralegal Association (OPA). During his tenure, he was the chair of the education and Law Society and Government relations committees.

Michael Lloyd Joins Precision Paralegal
Michael has had extensive experience in the public safety/legal community arenas. First, serving as a police officer with the Toronto Police Service, then as a professor teaching public safety at Sheridan College. He has obtained a master’s degree from Royal Roads University along with undergraduate degrees in education (Brock University) and social work (University of Victoria.) In 2018, he graduated (with distinction) from the paralegal studies program at Conestoga College in Kitchener. Additionally, Michael holds a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from York University.
As a legal professional, Michael is empathetic and solution-seeking, constantly striving to find the best resolutions for his clients.
In his spare time, Michael volunteers as a community mediator in Calgary. He is an avid motorcyclist having toured extensively throughout Ontario and the eastern United States. Now as a resident of western Canada, he is eager to explore the western side of North America.

Precision Welcomes Sophie Hunt and Connor Baillie
Precision Paralegal (www.precisionparalegal.ca) is expanding and is excited to announce that we have added two junior paralegals to our team. Sophie Hunt and Connor Baillie.
Sophie graduated from McMaster University with a Double Honours in English and Cultural Studies in 2016. She then continued her studies at Mohawk College, completing the Paralegal Studies program and graduating with Honours in 2018. Sophie completed the licensing process and became a Licensed Paralegal in the fall of 2018.
Connor graduated from the University of McMaster in Political Science in 2015. He then went on to continue his education at Sheridan College, graduating from the Paralegal Diploma Program, with Honours in 2017 and also being recognized with the Gillian Lee Student Leadership Award. Connor officially became a recognized licensed paralegal in December 2017.

Michelle Haigh appointed as the Law Society of Ontario’s representative to the Federation of Law Societies
We are pleased to announce that Michelle Haigh has been appointed as the Law Society of Ontario’s representative to the Council of the Federation of Law Societies and will begin November 15, 2018. She is the first paralegal ever to sit on the Federation of Law Societies board of directors.
