From Challenge to Focus: Our Journey at Precision Paralegal Services
Since 1996, Precision Paralegal Services has been dedicated to helping clients in Small Claims Court starting with subprime lenders and auto lenders who were just finding their footing. In those early years, we grew alongside our clients, building strong relationships and honing our skills in debt recovery and insurance subrogation. Over the decades, our business has evolved through different structures and approaches, always adapting to the needs of our clients.
In 2015, we expanded our scope to assist not only corporate clients but also individuals in Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant matters. We tried new pricing models, grew our staff, and diversified our work. Then the pandemic hit in 2020, and everything changed.
Our corporate clients understandably paused legal recoveries in the face of economic uncertainty. With mortgage deferrals and loan accommodations making headlines, the timing wasn’t right for lenders to pursue court actions. So we shifted our focus to individual clients, ramped up marketing, and grew to the largest team we’d ever had: 20 paralegals handling more files than ever before.
But the reality was difficult. The pandemic weighed heavily on everyone, clients, staff, and myself. Burnout became real. The courts shut down for months, and when they reopened, delays stretched to a year or more. We were often stuck waiting for hearing dates, unable to give our clients the progress they deserved. Frustration grew on all sides. Turnover was high, and we found ourselves unable to replace experienced paralegals. It was a challenging, exhausting time.
By 2023, we knew we had to make a change. We made the hard decision to return to our roots: focusing on corporate clients in debt recovery, insurance subrogation, and Repair and Storage Liens Act (RSLA) matters. We streamlined operations, reduced staff to match our new direction, and helped our individual clients transition to new representation.
On January 1st, 2024, we rebranded with a cleaner, more corporate-focused image that reflects who we are today. Our team is now highly trained, specialized, and deeply knowledgeable in our areas of law. We’ve not only strengthened our internal expertise but also invested in training our clients, so they can work more effectively with us for the best possible outcomes.
The results speak for themselves. One of the largest financial institutions in Canada recently told us that we were two to three times more effective than any other provider on a cost vs recoveries bases. While they couldn’t share exact figures, that feedback confirmed what we already felt — that our refocus is working, and our clients are seeing the benefits.
We also want to take a moment to thank our clients who stood by us through the most difficult years. You were navigating your own challenges while we were facing ours, and your loyalty means everything to us.
If you’ve worked with us recently and had a positive experience, we would truly appreciate it if you could share it in a Google review. It helps others see the Precision Paralegal Services of today — focused, specialized, and results-driven. And if you’ve seen our reviews from those challenging years and wondered if we were the right fit, we invite you to reach out and talk with us. Let us show you how far we’ve come.
We’re proud of the journey we’ve taken. The ups, the downs, and everything in between. We’re stronger, more focused, and more committed than ever to delivering results for our clients. Our core lines of business will remain our priority, and we’ll keep adapting, improving, and learning from our experiences.
Here’s to the next chapter. One built on expertise, trust, and a shared commitment to success.
