Partial Recovery on a Defaulted Consumer Loan Through the Court Process

Court proceedings and continued collection efforts produced a partial recovery for a lending company after a borrower defaulted on a short-term loan.

The situation

A lending company asked Precision Paralegal Services to recover an unpaid balance after a borrower defaulted on a short-term loan carrying a high contractual interest rate.

Our approach

We filed the claim and pursued the borrower through the court process.

Collection efforts continued to recover as much of the outstanding balance as possible. Partial payments received along the way were applied toward the balance.

The outcome

The file was resolved through the court collection process, with partial recovery achieved before closing.

What this case illustrates

A lump sum payment is not always a realistic outcome. In this matter, methodical follow-up and applying partial payments kept recovery moving, even though the outstanding balance was not recovered in full.
