Assessing Litigation Costs Before Pursuing a Claim

An upfront claim package and cost assessment helped a financial services client decide whether to pursue a company and a connected individual.

The situation

A financial services client asked Precision Paralegal Services to evaluate a potential claim against a corporate debtor and an individual connected to it.

Our approach

Before the client committed to litigation, we prepared a claim package for review.

The package included an assessment of the costs the client would face if the matter proceeded to court, giving the client a clearer basis for its business decision.

After reviewing the package, the client decided not to proceed with litigation and the file was closed.

The outcome

The client made an informed decision not to proceed with litigation after reviewing the claim package and anticipated costs.

What this case illustrates

The decision to litigate includes a commercial assessment as well as a review of the claim. Clear information about expected costs helps a client decide whether proceeding fits its objectives and budget.
